Almighty Latin Kings and Queens Nation The Almighty Latin Kings and Queens Nation is a People/Brother Mob made up of mostly latinos. The official colors are Gold & Black (The New York State Chapter of the Latin Kings sometimes use the color red to show honor to King Blood as Bloodline Kings, but not as an official color). The symbols include the "Master", 5 point Crown, Lion, Cross w/5 rays, 5 point Star, and the number 5. Some of the spin off sets include the Bush LK's, Midway LK's, Lawrence LK's, and Assyrian Kings. The founder is Papa King. The Latin Kings are the largest and possibly most structured Latino street gang in Chicago. The Latin Kings dominate a part of nearly every Latino community in the Chicagoland area. The Kings were started in Humboldt Park in the late early 60's by "Papa King" and several other cohorts. They formed during the initial stages of ethnicity changes in the Humboldt Park neighborhood (from White to Hispanic) to protect themselves from local White street gangs. The group rapidly expanded their operations to South Chicago, Little Village, Uptown, Albany Park, Rogers Park and Gage Park during the following years. Papa King was killed in the 80's, leaving Gino "Gustavo" Colon and Raul "Baby King" Gonzales as the gangs leaders. Both Colon and Gonzales were convicted on murder charges in 1972 and sentenced to 25-to-50 years in prison. It is rumored that Colon had Papa King killed due to disputes as to which direction the Latin Kings should go in. Colon was released from prison in 1995 only to be arrested on the same day on RICO charges. He was sentenced to a life term and currently resides in federal prison. The Latin Kings have several chapters in states across America. Among the most well known and established are the Bloodline Chapter ( Nickname for the New York State Chapter started by King Blood) and the Connecticut State Chapter. In prison, the Kings were a major founder of the People Alliance in the late 70's, as they still retain close ties to the Black P. Stones, who were also a principle founder of the alliance. The gang follows a strict code of laws and a "religion" called "Kingism", adopting many principles that reflect Christianity, as well as Aztec and Inca Indian culture. Although the group originated as a predominantly Puerto Rican gang, the gang now constitutes members of virtually every racial category: including Mexicans, Cubans, African Americans, Caucasians, Native Americans, Arabs, Pakistanis, etc. They're said to have an estimated 18,000 members in the Chicagoland area (both on the streets and in prison), and thousands of members in several other states. |
