Almighty Spanish Vice Lords Nation Almighty Spanish Vice Lords Nation is a People/Brother Mob made up of mostly latinos. Their colors are Burgundy & Black Their symbols include a Playboy Bunny w/Bowtie, Tophat, Cane, 5 point Star. The Spanish Vice Lords originated in the early 1980's in the South Deering neighborhood on Chicago's Southeast side. The Spanish Vice Lords are believed to derived from the Conservative Vice Lords who operated within the Trumball Park housing projects. The group of Latino's found themselves in constant problems with neighborhood gangs such as the King Cobras, who operated in the vicinity of 106th & Bensley in the Bensley housing projects, as well as the Gangster Disciples street gang. The group would often assist the Conservative Vice Lords in combating these rivals. This group gained close ties to the Conservative Vice Lords within the South Deering neighborhood. The neighborhood conflicts enticed members of the group to want to join the Conservative Vice Lords street gang. Soon after the death of a member of the Latino group, the CVL's requested a decision from hierarchy to induct the first group of Latino's as a faction of Vice Lords, known as the "Spanish" Vice Lords. This took place in the early 1980's and the first chapter of SVL's originated on 104th & Hoxie in South Deering. In the beginning, there were only key members initiated to originate the SVL's, these are said to have been the "downest" members of the group. These members were to go about a "lead by example" persona and carry-out acts of violence on rival gangs to further the Spanish Vice Lords reputation. During this time the SVL's would engage in gang fights and shootings to defend their respect gang turf against their neighborhood rivals. While the SVL's would solidify there hold on the South Deering area there was a small crew (possibly gang) that was coming to a fold in the Wolfe Park area of South Chicago. Members of this group were fading rapidly by this time, mainly due to frequent attacks from members of the Latin Kings street gang. The group was seeking a beneficial answer to help them regroup stability over the Wolfe Park area from the Latin Kings. This lead the group to form a relationship with the Spanish Vice Lords in South Deering in the late 1980's. The bond between groups brought idea's of expansion to members of the SVL's. The group from Wolfe Park gradually formed a strong comradeship with the SVL's, and eventually high-ranking members granted them membership as a branch of Spanish Vice Lords. By 1991 the Wolfe Park SVL's established themselves along the 108th street corridor. The Spanish Vice Lords street gang established a well known reputation by 1994, specifically due to the gang violence between the SVL's and members of the Latin Kings and Latin Dragons street gangs. Since their origination the Spanish Vice Lords have followed most of the original principles and laws of any Vice Lord faction, however, their are some minor differences. One of those differences are that instead of the traditional Red or Gold and Black, the SVL's adopted the color burgundy in substitute. Today, the Spanish Vice Lords remain in the South Deering and Wolfe Park area's in South Chicago. In more recent events, the Spanish Vice Lords have gained a presence in near-by Hammond, Indiana. The SVL's are known to fued with the Latin Kings, King Cobras, Latin Dragons, Latin Counts, and Gangster Disciples street gangs. |
