Familia Stones Nation

Familia Stones Nation is a People/Brother Mob made up of mostly latinos.

Their colors are Orange and Black.

Their symbols include a Pyramid with a Diamond, Crescent Moon, Swords, and a 5 point Star.

The Familia Stones originated as the Puerto Rican Stones (P.R. Stones) in the Logan Square community around 1968. However, the gang was actually founded in the correctional facilities by Danny Velez, who was previously a member of the Latin Eagles street gang. Upon incarceration, Danny Velez joined the Black Stone Rangers street gang, after being alienated from the Latin Eagles due to the belief that he informed correctional officers of the gangs criminal activity. After being incarcerated, Danny Velez, along with Tito Saprio, and James Santana, formed the Puerto Rican Stones Nation, which was intended to be part of the larger Almighty Black P. Stone Rangers. However, Danny Velez did not receive a seat on Jeff Fort's "Main 21" commission board, and after 1977 the board was disbanded, as the Black Stones Rangers became the El Rukns. Danny Velez continued to operate as Chief of the Puerto Rican Stones in the 1970's as the organization basically became a completely independent group without official recognition from the El Rukns organization. The P.R. Stones setup operations in the Logan Square and Albany Park neighborhoods throughout 1975-to-1983, respectively. The gang fought a vicious war with the Assyrian Eagles, Spanish Cobras, and more prominantly, the Simon City Royals street gang. The P.R. Stones are credited with the assassination of Simon City Royal leader, Todd "Dillenger" Brewer. In the early 1990's, after long-standing wars with the Maniac Latin Disciples, Latin Eagles, Simon City Royals, and other neighborhood street gangs, the Stones were forced from their stronghold in the vicinity of Diversey & California. During the same period, the organization became known as the P.R. Future Stones, (also known as Future P.R. Stones, or simply Future Stones). The term "future", usually refers to "soon-to-be" gang members. As the younger members of the organization assumed positions of influence, this name prevailed as the moniker for the P.R. Stones.

Around this time, the P.R. Stones initiated a war with the Latin Kings street gang, primarily over drug turf. The Latin Kings operate around the intersection of Lawrence & Kedzie, while the Stones main base of operations was and currently is the corner of Leland & Kedzie, which is only two blocks South. Although both gangs are members of the People alliance, and strongly allied with the Black P. Stones street gang in the correctional facilities, they remain bitter enemies of each other on the streets. Some time throughout the mid 1990's, the gang adopted the moniker "Familia" Stones, to better represent their racial makeup, due to the fact that many members are non-Puerto Rican, in fact, many members of the Familia Stones are White. In 1996, Slice assumed the rank of Inca of the Albany Park Familia Stones. He was said to brutally enforce gang laws, tax members of the gang to sell drugs, and disrespect older members of the gang. This angered some high-ranking Stones, many of which were locked up in correctional facilities. In 1998, after various altercations with other Familia Stones hierarchy, Slice apparently became bitter with the Familia Stones, and internal corruption is rumored became a factor in this case. Members of the Familia Stones soon became aware of this and murdered Slice in retaliation. The organization is now controlled by a Council, consisting of several high-ranking members. The Familia Stones continue to excercise a strong presence in the Albany Park community, particularly along Kedzie Avenue. The gang has few allies on the streets, and are known for initiating violence to protect their territory, as well as enhance their reputation. However, they are currently in a state of turmoil due to warring factions and other internal issues.
